Emergency Dental Care

A dental emergency could be anything from unexpected and severe pain from a rotting tooth, or a tooth getting knocked out while participating in a sports activity or an accident. Any kind of dental emergency can be painful, stressful, and often alarming. But the sooner you schedule an appointment with your dentist, the better your chances of limiting any damage caused.
At Jersey Brothers Dental in Monroe Twp NJ, we pride ourselves on providing emergency dental care to our patients when the situation demands it. Emergency walk-in appointments and phone calls are always given preference.

What is considered a Dental Emergency?

A dental emergency is any state causing you immense pain or preventing you from going about your everyday routine. For instance, if you have an unbearable toothache or a cracked tooth, you need to see a dental professional right away. Most dental emergencies need to be addressed within the first few hours, but some can be eased with medication and treated at your convenience.
If you are unsure what to do or if your condition truly needs emergency care, we advise you to call our office and discuss the situation with one of our team members. We will counsel you on the appropriate measures to be taken and plan an appointment to see you at the earliest. Our primary concern will be to provide temporary relief and discuss the therapeutic solutions to solve your dental problem permanently.

What are some Common Dental Emergencies?

Toothaches and knocked-out or broken teeth are perhaps the most common dental emergencies. Severe toothache is one of the most uncomfortable experiences you can go through and need to be seen on the same day. It could signify an underlying dental problem that must be addressed soon. We can arrange to accommodate you in our scheduled appointments.
With knocked-out or broken teeth, time is of the essence. The earlier you can get to our office, the better the chances of stabilizing or restoring your impaired tooth. But before you reach us, make sure to store the tooth fragment properly so that it does not dry out. Keeping the damaged tooth in a sealed container, wholly immersed in milk or warm water, would be best. Knocked-out teeth can be placed back into the socket and held in position. Try to get to our office within the first two hours of the mishap.

How to avoid Dental Emergencies?

You can avoid injuries or trauma to the teeth by following some simple steps:
  • Wear a mouthguard when taking part in sports or fun activities.
  • Avoid chewing hard candy, ice, and popcorn kernels, all of which can chip a tooth.
  • Never cut or bite things with your teeth
